Women’s History Month – Celebrating Women at Velocity
4 Amazing Stories: Celebrating Women at Velocity
Interviewed by Sarah Sandoval Chambers, Corporate Communications Manager
It was an honor to interview these four intelligent and hard-working women who exhibit Velocity’s One Team core value of fostering an environment of positivity, respect, and inclusiveness because we all WIN together.
In the last 50 years, the number of working women in the U.S. has gone from 27 million to 76.6 million – women account for 46.8% of the labor force (2022 U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics). This is pretty incredible!
We talked about how many women before us were trailblazers facing opposition from almost everywhere. We also discussed what has changed for women today compared to 50 years ago in regard to generational shifts in traditional norms and gender roles/biases. These differences were noticed and acknowledged by all the women interviewed – and having women at the table brings different perspectives and solutions to the workforce and their communities necessary for gender equality.
We recognize women’s progress and reflect on the current status of working women in America – and the work that remains to be done. Let’s continue celebrating, educating, and sharing women’s rich history and contributions by ensuring Velocity is a place of inclusiveness where all team members feel comfortable, valued, and supported.
